Winnipeg Meditation

Established in 1986, the Sri Chinmoy Centre of Winnipeg is comprised of individuals from all walks of life who practice meditation on a regular basis and follow the  spiritual teachings of Sri Chinmoy.

Free Meditation Classes

Inspired by Sri Chinmoy' own life of service to humanity, as well as by the benefits of meditation in our own lives, we offer free introductory meditation classes on an ongoing basis.  Please contact us by phone at 204-944-1041 or visit our Winnipeg Meditation website to learn more about these free classes and to send us a message, we would love to hear from you.

Meditation classes are offered by students of Sri Chinmoy.  Shishir Pauk, freelance writer has been practicing meditation for 30 years and giving meditation classes for 25 years throughout Europe as well as NewZealand and the USA.  Purnakama Rajna, elementary music teacher and vocalist in the musical group Sangit Surabhi, has been meditating for 15 years, and offering meditation classes in Winnipeg for 7 years.

Community Initiatives

Many of Sri Chinmoy's international initiatives for peace are based on his lifelong dedication to creating a oneness-world family. In 1987, he  established the World Harmony Run, an annual global torch-relay event that offers the message of friendship and harmony to people in over 100 nations. The Sri Chinmoy Centre of Winnipeg annually hosts the World Harmony Run when it arrives in our city on its route across Canada, bringing the symbolic torch to schools and communities across the country. Premiers of Manitoba and mayors of Winnipeg, as well as hundreds of Winnipeg citizens and schoolchildren, have held the Torch over the years. For information about the 2008 World Harmony Run in Winnipeg and in other parts of Canada, please visit the World Harmony Run in Canada website.

An avid athlete throughout his life, Sri Chinmoy encouraged all of his students to feel the importance of  physical fitness as a means of establishing peace and happiness in their lives. In honour of the World Harmony Run and Sri Chinmoy's  life of dedicated service to world peace,  many communities throughout the world dedicated one mile running/walking routes to peace in his name. In 1987, the City of Winnipeg dedicated a one mile track in the beautiful Assiniboine Forest as a Sri Chinmoy Peace Mile. This one mile track serves as an inspiration to the Winnipeg community as hundreds of people walk and run along its route.
