St. John's Meditation

The most recently established of the Sri Chinmoy Centres in Canada, members in St. John's have been meditating together for approximately four years. In addition to our regular weekly group meditations, members also practice lifestyles that include personal daily meditation, physical fitness and service to both their community and the world at large. A large part of that service is the offering of free meditation classes on a regular basis.  Please call Brahmacharini at 709-237- 1611 or click on classes for further information.

Sri Chinmoy dedicated his life to inspiring and serving those seeking a deeper meaning in life. Through his teaching of meditation, his music, art and writings, his athletics and his own life of dedicated service to humanity, he offered ways of finding inner peace, joy and fulfillment. As students of Sri Chinmoy, we are inspired and encouraged to live a balanced lifestyle that incorporates the inner discipline of prayer and meditation with the dynamism of contemporary life.

Part of this lifestyle includes physical fitness with the goal not only to maintain healthy bodies but also to facilitate more relaxed and meditative states of mind. We, therefore, often take advantage of the East Coast Trail - our 200 plus km of hiking trails stretching up and down the coast of the Avalon Peninsula - to not only keep fit but also to experience the silence and the rugged beauty of the Newfoundland landscape, which is profoundly inspiring!

We will be pleased this year to welcome the Sri Chinmoy Oneness-Home Peace Run when it arrives in St. John's on September 1st and 2nd to begin its cross Canada journey. This annual international torch relay is one of Sri Chinmoy's most successful initiatives for world harmony and global oneness.
