Montreal Meditation

OUR CENTRE AND ITS ACTIVITIES

The Sri Chinmoy Centre of Montreal was established in 1972. As in all Sri Chinmoy Centres throughout the world, our members come from a variety of walks of life and cultural backgrounds, and are active members of the community.

We also meet twice a week for group meditations and regularly offer meditation classes in both English and French, which are always free of charge.  Learn more about our free meditation classes.

Each member brings the benefits of their meditation practice into his or her daily life. We all notice how regular meditation not only enables us to feel happier and more peaceful but also gives our lives greater meaning and fulfillment.

Some of our members who are excellent musicians have formed a musical group called the Pavaka Ensemble that performs in Montreal, Ottawa and Kingston. Leader Pavaka Ritchot has arranged Sri Chinmoy's haunting melodies into a contemporary yet meditative musical experience, which can be heard on his CD entitled Pavaka.

Since 1972, Sri Chinmoy has visited  Montreal many times offering free music and meditation concerts for peace and harmony. In the year 2000, over 19,000 people attended his Peace Concert at what is now known as the Bell Centre. Prior to this, audiences of  9,000 in 1991 and 13,000 in 1995 enjoyed his soul-stirring music during concerts at the Palais des Congres ( Montreal Convention Centre). Sri Chinmoy also gave talks and concerts at McGill and Concordia Universities.

Sri Chinmoy's  beautiful artwork, entitled Jharna Kala, has been displayed at various galleries around Montreal.
